Yoga is the union of the opposites. Opposites, deriving from the word oppose means to be in direct contention with, or to resist. When two things resist each other, there is conflict. Yoga brings the two opposing things together at the center to create balance and harmony. When we are completely and wholly in balance, I believe we are completely and wholly healthy (physically, mentally, and spiritually).
Yoga begins by working on the physical body. As we release tension, stress, and emotions that reside in the body, we create space and freedom. This space that is then created opens, leading us to our center, our true authentic selves. Our peace lies at our center, there’s no conflict there. So, finding our center in the midst of the chaos helps us to handle the conflicts of our lives. It’s always there for us, we just have to find it. And yoga helps us do that!
